The Ouija board is a common prop in séances. It is engraved with the letters of the alphabet (AZ), the numbers 0-9, and the words: yes (da); no (nu), hello (salut); goodbye (la revede). It is accompanied by a small movable board called a "pointer", which has a window in the middle through which the numbers or letters will appear. Held in the hand, due to the "ideomotor effect" of the trace, the pointer seems to move on its own above the board, indicating letters, numbers or words, thus forming answers to those invoked.
