Hecate was the Greek goddess of crossroads, fog, and magic. She is most often depicted with three heads; one of a dog, one of a snake, and one of a horse. She is usually accompanied by two ghost dogs, who are said to serve her. Hecate is often mistakenly thought of as the goddess of witchcraft and evil, but she has actually done some very good things. One such deed is the rescue of Persephone , (daughter of Demeter , queen of the underworld, and maiden of spring) from the underworld. Hecate is said to haunt a three-way intersection, each head facing a specific direction. She is also said to appear when the ivory moon is shining.
